Sometimes things just happen
Funny story:
So I wake up today with a bit of a stretch. Not perfect sleep, not completely refreshed. Well, I do some last minute planning for class, throw on an African dress and call it a morning.
I walk to class and in hindsight see no students, get to school and it is not open. I am in a bit of panic, but then see three other students who simply say it is a holiday. I laugh a bit to myself. They warned us of this is training. Sometimes people in the village just expect you to know things, like guess what there is no school today.
It ended up being a blessing in disguise, because I had plans to travel this weekend and had already made up my one and only class Friday afternoon. There is a big party in Nikki, a Bariba town just north of ¨Parakou, so this is where I am headed.
Things at post are still going well. I created a mini tutoring center with this empty house on my property. I also am helping students paint a wall mural of the world. Maps are hard to come by, so sometimes you just got to draw it.
Other things, I have two observations comming up. One by Anastasie, the assistant director of teachers. The other from the country director herself. I also am now a member of Peer Support Network, which is a group of volunteers who just provide an ear and shoulder to volunteers when needed. I am really excited about it. I also should find out this month if I am working the training sessions for the next batch of voluntters. Wish me luck!
Alrighty, bye for now. Check out more photos! They are online as we speak in the Badjoude folder and Peace Corps Life. The kids holding cards are the honor students. I for obvious reasons, actually having a camera, was the officical photographer.
