Quick Note

Sorry all.

This will be breif, because I have litterally been and will be in Parakou for 24 hours and still have a lot of work I need to do. It is test time for the mid semester February 7th and my exams are do on the 19th. Also, on the 19th my boss Maria comes for a site visit. So, I have to finish some reports and fill out a bunch of forms. Plus, teach and keep up with my other projects. Sometimes I am too busy and then other days I realize it is for a good reason and cause.

All in all post is still going well. I have found myself in a busy rythm. Other volunteers tell me I work too hard, and that Peace Corps doesn t expect that much from me. Well, as you all know, I expect that much from myself and would feel like I was chating both my community and myself if I wasn t doing all the things that I al doing. Oh well, I guess I have always been doing exactly this.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes over Christmas and my birthday. I spent it with five other volunteers who came to my post/ It was good to be surrounded by friends, but I would be lying if I didnùt admit it was a bit sad. You all play such an important role in my life and as the proverb goes, You don t realize it until your gone.

So, keep the good vibes comming.

Love you all and I will respond to e mails at greater length the last week of January when I will be in Natitingou and near a computer again.

Keep in touch and miss you.

The map you sent us really helps, although it seems hard to believe that Natitingou is only 45 kilometers from Bajoude, and it still takes three hours by car! The roads must be worse than the ones in Kenya! We had a similar experience in Peru, where it took the train four hours to go from Cusco to Macchu Picchu, even though it was only 116 k's. The train personnel tried their best to entertain us, serving food and drinks just like in an airline AND putting on a fashion show complete with dances in native Incan costume (they were trying to sell sweaters, etc.) One of the "train attendants" really got into it! She had the "runway" swagger down! ( I was impressed; Mike and Tom weren't; but then, they're young and exceedingly "undesperate")
