We will start with the most important things first......

Happy Birthday TOM!!!!!!!!!!!

He is getting older wiser, and as always continues to be smarter than I am.

Second, I apologize to all, especially to Becca for keeping you waiting. But, drum roll please. I am staying in Benin for a third year. My new Close of Service date is December 3rd, 2007. I will have two positions. First, is I will be the new Volunteer Leader for the Parakou Workstation, which is the main northern capital. I will basically manage daily opperations of the office and serve as basically a RA for volunteers in the area, providing a go between for them and our Peace Corps administration. My second job will be in Parakou,s regional office of the Ministry of Education. There, I will be working in the English Inspectors office hopefully adding a new teacher training component to the Education program in Peace Corps Benin.

As a part of my extension good old George Bush will be paying for my trip home to the states for a month. This will hopefully be next December. I am sad to be staying another year away from you all, but I am sure just from the job discription alone it is right up my ally and an incredible chance, I just couldn,t pass by.

Alrighty, I am back off to post tomorrow with some visitors. A few other volunteers and I are going to go into Togo for a spell. Love you all and see you sooner rather than later, believe it or not.

Thats great to hear that the peace corp finally made a decision. Better late than never. That also means that the White Sox, Bears, and Bulls will continue to have winning seasons. As for your new position, it sounds like a major change. From teaching in a small village to now having an administrative city desk job. It also sounds like the perfect job for someone ambitious willing to shake things up, start something new, and effect lots of people. My birthday was a little different from what I thought. The four horsemen didn't come, the gates of hell didn't open, and the world did not turn into complete chaos. Instead, it was a Tuesday. I'm living in my house which is pretty exciting. It's nice to get out the cramped dorms. All utilities are free, except for cable which the last residents still haven't cancelled. My room is about 9 feet by 18 feet with a huge walk in closet. I found a five piece couch on the side of the road one day which fits in pretty well in my room. I have two housemates which I work with at culvers. But other than still organizing the house to working overtime every week I haven't had time for much else.

Yo Annie,
Congrads on staying in Benin for a 3rd (crazy!) PCVL - that's awesome. And, i think we all know the Parakou station rocks the most. I may be rocking through Benin and Mali next Feb, so maybe i'll swing by. Speaking of which, do you know if Nick is still in Kaboua? Email me at gin007@aol.com
